About Kristen
Hi! I’m Kristen Itzel Ramírez. I am a heart-centered people leader + facilitator of intentional spaces. I carry a decade of experience in public health community programming, leadership of diverse teams, and nonprofit administration (fund development, operations, finance) thru work at Diverse and Resilient, Milwaukee Public Schools, and the State of Wisconsin Department of Health Services.
My Mexican + Guatemalan ancestry and queer identity shape my intersectional lens. I’m a Libra sun, Pisces moon (my favorite), and Capricorn rising - air, water, and earth.
Once burnt-out from following other people’s leadership scripts and the traditional nonprofit career ladder, I began the hard work of unearthing my gifts of being relationship centric, modeling vulnerability, and holding space for others. Duodécima was birthed from my life experience, heart, and desire to inspire others to move with intention, love, and care.
About the Name
Duodécima translates to “twelfth” in Spanish.
In astrological birth charts, north node placements tell a story about one’s life purpose. My north node is in the 12th house - la duodécima casa. For me, that represents a journey in this lifetime about moving from doing to being + from providing medicine to being the medicine.
I chose a business name in Spanish as a reminder to reject white supremacy and connected to “woo woo” tools that some devalue to remember to never self-abandon.
